Who am I?
Hello there! I am Katy, the owner of Functional Prevention.
I am a Sports Therapist with a MSc in Sports & Exercises Science and Medicine. I have been working with teams and individuals since 2016. My number one reason for choosing this career has always been to prevent injuries, not wait till someone gets hurt to fix them. I want to stop it from happening, or at least minimise the risk. I am qualified in a diverse range of areas such as; Muscle-skeletal assessment and diagnosis, Pilates, Exercise Physiology, Sport Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, I can provided you with the information of several professional for the price of one.
I feel so bless to be able help people every day. Nothing makes me happier than getting thank you messages from people, for relieving their pain or helping them reach a goal. Over the years I have worked hard, studying, researching and learning, to be able share my knowledge with you and help you feel, move and perform a little bit better. Share the information I have gathered and educating people in a fun, reliable way allows me and my clients to get the most out of every interaction.
I love functional style training! I get bored so easily of repetitive, traditional gym movements. When designing programmes for people I ensure that they are uniquely tailored to their needs and goals. I watch how people move and break down the movements they need day to day or in their sport. This is how I come up individualised training plans and workouts that keep your body guessing and progressing.
And that is how Functional Prevention was born. I want to prevent injuries in a functional way. Through a combination of Sports Therapy, Pilates, Strength and conditioning and Exercise Physiology I will help you reach your goals and live your best life.
My aim
The aim of Functional Prevention is to prevent/minimise unnecessary injuries and improve performance.
Over the years I have treated a lot of injuries. Most of these injuries could have been easily prevented.
I have seen individuals consistently performing workouts that weren’t tailored to their goals, and they wonder why they aren’t getting the results they want.
There’re crazy amount of information in the health and fitness industry, which can be overwhelming and confusing. And that’s okay! Why? Because you didn’t spend the best part of a decade studying this stuff… But I have! So I am going to teach you everything I know in a way that is easy to understand for everyone, regardless of your background, education, athletic level or goals.
If you are feed up of constantly being injured, not progressing with training, not seeing results, I am here to help you! If you are feed up of pain, discomfort, limited movement and poor posture, I am here to help you!
